Projects
Choose between VFX and Material projects in VFX Loom 1.2.0.
VFX Loom has two project types. Choose the one that matches the thing you want to make; the project type controls the available nodes, preview, timeline, and export path.
VFX projects
A VFX project builds procedural images into a flipbook. It supports the image, value, colour, transform, filter, composite, and animation nodes available to the VFX authoring surface. The Preview timeline is available throughout the project, and Export produces a flipbook or a single frame for the supported Roblox targets.
Material projects
A Material project builds surface maps for a mesh. It exposes Material nodes such as Mesh Curvature, Mesh Ambient Occlusion, Normal From Height, Roughness, and Material Output. A Material project can also contain the Geometry Beta toolset when the graph has a mesh branch.
Material projects do not present the timeline for a pure texture-map graph. The timeline becomes available when the graph contains Geometry, so animated mesh deformation and its material can be previewed together.
Create either type from New Project. The chosen type is stored with the project and controls capability filtering; it is not a separate export plugin.
Project format and compatibility
Current projects use format version 4. Older VFX projects remain loadable. The legacy Mesh Output node is migrated to Asset Output when a Geometry project is loaded; it is retained only as a compatibility state and is not a current authoring choice.
Unknown node types are kept by the loader with a warning so a project can be revisited after a compatible build is installed. References to Material targets and UV selection sets are stored as stable references and are validated when the project is opened.
