Overview

Smooths geometry using repeated local relaxation.

Geometry Beta deformation. Applies local smoothing for the requested iterations; Preserve Boundary keeps boundary vertices constrained when enabled.

Inputs

geometry Geometry Required — See the overview for the node's documented behavior.
mask GeometryField Optional — See the overview for the node's documented behavior.

Properties

PropertyTypeDefaultAnimatableRange / optionsEffect
Strength Scalar 1 Yes Hard 0..1 · Step .01 Animatable control; changing it over time varies the node response.
Iterations Scalar 2 Not declared Hard 1..8 · Step 1 Local control documented by the production node behavior.
Preserve Boundary Bool true Not declared — Local control documented by the production node behavior.

Outputs

geometry Geometry The production node output described by the overview.

Usage

In practice

  • Use Smooth after a deformation when the mesh needs local relaxation.
  • Increase Iterations carefully; use Preserve Boundary when open edges should remain constrained.

Notes / limitations

  • Smooth changes vertex positions but does not provide general topology editing.
