Documentation

Is Geometry a separate project type?

No. Geometry is a Beta capability inside Material projects. Create a Material project, add Mesh Input and the required geometry nodes, and finish at Asset Output.

Why is a Material preview flat?

Check that the target MeshPart has a usable UV layout. Material maps are rasterized into the mesh UVs; without usable UVs the preview falls back to a flat colour.

What does Preview Lighting change?

Preview Lighting changes the azimuth, elevation and ambient fill used to inspect the material. It does not alter the graph or the exported maps.

What is the Material Library?

It is the production catalogue of approximately 100 ready-to-use materials in VFX Loom 1.2. Import one as a starting point for a Material project, then tune the graph and output settings yourself.

When does a Material project show a timeline?

A pure texture-map Material graph does not expose the timeline. The timeline becomes available when the graph contains Geometry.

Which Geometry export should I use?

Choose Bake Static Mesh for the recommended runtime path. Export Animated Mesh is experimental and intended for lightweight runtime VFX.

Can I share Geometry projects?

Not currently. Publishing is blocked while the mesh source cannot be safely shared. The Community UI reports: “Geometry sharing is unavailable until its mesh source can be safely shared.”

What happened to Mesh Output?

Mesh Output is a deprecated compatibility node. Current Geometry authoring uses Asset Output; the project loader migrates the legacy node when loading older format data.

Does Material export create a flipbook?

No. Material uses its map/asset export workflow. The VFX flipbook and ParticleEmitter path is for VFX projects.
